National Swipe Out Hunger Program
Swipe Out Hunger is a nationwide program that partners with colleges to help put an end to student hunger and assist those who struggle with food insecurity.
Swipe Out Hunger Program at UNC Charlotte
The Swipe Out Hunger Program aims to provide students who are food insecure, and/or who are experiencing an emergency situation, access to healthy and well-balanced meals in our campus dining halls. To be eligible, students must be currently enrolled at UNC Charlotte.
If you meet this initial requirement and would like to complete a needs-based assessment to determine your further eligibility for the program, please email Student Assistance and Support Services (studentsupport@charlotte.edu) directly with your inquiry. Your email should include specific information regarding why you are in need of this particular service. Please review additional information on UNC Charlotte's Swipe Out Hunger before submitting an email inquiry.
Donate Meal Swipes
Students can donate up to two swipes from their meal plan per semester. Swipes can be donated by:
- Visiting the 49er ID Card Office in Popp Martin Student Union, which has a swipe machine to collect meal donations.
- Outside Social 704 and SoVi Dining Hall during National National Volunteer Week.
Want to Volunteer?
UNC Charlotte's Swipe Out Hunger meal collections happen for one week in April and in November. If you are interested in volunteering at one of our Swipe Out Hunger tables to collect meal swipes and educate your peers on college food insecurity, please email studentsupport@charlotte.edu.
