Our mission at the Jamil Niner Student Pantry is to empower the campus community to overcome food insecurity by providing healthy, culturally appropriate nutrition while equipping student leaders with the knowledge and advocacy skills necessary to educate the community about related issues and navigate the resources it provides.
There are three main objectives at the Jamil Niner Student Pantry. We believe these objectives will help build institutional capacity for combating food insecurity and contribute to student well-being and enhanced learning outcomes for both student volunteers and student shoppers. Our objectives are:
Ensuring the campus community can reliably access food that meets their cultural and health needs.
Cultivating self-advocacy and skill development of the student staff and volunteers.
- Increasing campus-wide understanding of food insecurity and available campus and community resources.
Our vision for the Jamil Niner Student Pantry is to create a space where students and staff experiencing basic needs insecurity can find support and relief, ensuring no one has to worry about their next meal. We aim to foster a sense of unity and purpose, bringing together volunteers, students, and staff to make a lasting impact on our campus community. By providing resources, knowledge, and opportunities to give back, we strive to build a stronger, more interconnected community where everyone feels supported and empowered
