The Jamil Niner Food Pantry is open for shopping by appointment from noon - 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Masks are required to be worn inside the food pantry at all times.

Some food pantries require a referral. Please call 211 and state that you need food assistance. Ask "how do I get a referral and if possible, can you provide me names of food pantries that don't have this requirement."

National Swipe Out Hunger Program

Swipe Out Hunger is a nation-wide program that partners with colleges to help put an end to student hunger and assist those who struggle with food insecurity. Leadership & Community Engagement has partnered with Chartwells Dining Services, Auxiliary Services, Student Assistance and Support Services, and the Sustainability Office to bring this program to UNC Charlotte. 

Donate Meal Swipes

Students can donate up to two swipes from their meal plan per semester. Swipes can be donated by:

  1. Visiting the 49er ID Card Office in Popp Martin Student Union, which has a swipe machine to collect meal donations.
  2. Outside Crown Commons and SoVi Dining Hall during Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week:
    • November 18-22, 2019

Eligibility for Swipe Out Hunger Program at UNC Charlotte

The Swipe Out Hunger Program aims to provide students who are food insecure, and/or who are experiencing an emergency situation, access to healthy and well-balanced meals in our campus dining halls. To be eligible, students must be currently enrolled at UNC Charlotte.
